Check out this cool site put together by Grow Interactive from Norfolk. The Nike Foundation has identified what it calls ‘The Girl Effect.’ My first thought was that this would be an empowering film explaining how ‘men aren’t the only ones who can pound the streets and get sweaty’; thankfully it wasn’t.

The Girl Effect is what happens when you provide girls in developing countries with education and resources. Nike believe that, given the opportunity, girls have the power to change the world. For example, studies show that a woman will reinvest 90% of her income into her family but a man will reinvest 30-40%. We’re talking greater economic stability, less poverty, and more opportunity for economic growth. Whether it’s quite as simple as that I’m not sure, but, thanks to this film, I certainly want to believe it.
