18 million bikes, 16.5 million people.

We love them, but not as much as the Dutch. It’s true: there are 18 million bikes in the Netherlands, but only 16.5 million people. If you’re over there this weekend, be sure to check out ‘Bicycle’, a 100-day event that comes to an end this Sunday at the Designhaus in Eindhoven.

The exhibition is more of an open love letter. The Dutch are born to bike, mainly for basic transport, but, at ‘Bicycle, the outlets for health, sport and plain old showing off are amply catered for. When creativity meets manufacturing, it’s a fertile breeding ground for innovation. The exhibition has given the Dutch a perfect opportunity to share their weird and wonderful ideas.
