TRON2 MAIN

Light Cycles & Deadly Discs

"Lights, camera, action .... LOTS of lights and LOTS of action!"

Coming to a cinema near you this December 2010, is the sequel to the 1982 Academy Award-nominated film that made throwing pillows round the sitting room the best game ever (Tron Deadly Discs for the uninitiated...).  And as for a Tron light cycle ... Santa you let me down!

At over twenty-eight years, this film marks the longest gap between a live-action film and its theatrical sequel in Hollywood history.  Imagaination, creativity, determination and A LOT of patience in its making...

Jeff Bridges reprises his role as Kevin Flynn, and Bruce Boxleitner his roles as Alan Bradley and Tron, while Garrett Hedlund portrays Flynn's now-adult son, Sam.  In keeping with the latest craze for 3D, Tron Legacy will be presented in Digital 3-D and IMAX 3D.  But pehaps more exciting than cast or technology is the fact that Daft Punk have been heavily tipped to deliver the film's banging sound track.  Until that's confirmed, enjoy the trailer below and feel free to hit the old skool light cycle game here for bragging rights with the gang...

Dean Potter Eiger MAIN

Freebasing The Eiger

"...freeclimber, base jumper, now acclaimed 'freeBaser' ... meet Mr Dean Potter."

Climbing shoes - check.  Shorts - check.  Tub of talc - check.  Parachute - check.  Gigantic cojones - check.  All you need for a quick trip up the Eiger for arguably the world's most imaginative and determined spiritual daredevil.

After several months training on limestone cliffs in Lauterbrunnen, Potter recently made his ascent on the 3960m Eiger, via the hugely challenging Deep Blue Sea route.  Parachute or no parachute this a hazardous climb with the blue limestone rock prone to coming loose at any time.  The prize waiting at the summit?... the opportunity to hurl himself landward in freefall rapture.

FreeBasing the Eiger would appear to be just another comparably small journey for a man who has been driven to risk his life and push the boundaries of human possibility since childhood.  For those of you that might have missed it, Dean Potter is the only person in the world who does extreme slacklining. This is quite simply tight rope walking at its limit - high up... very high up, on a bouncy stretch of one inch wide rope, no pole, no harness, nature all around.  Death defying, artistic, or plain crazy ... you decide for yourself from this short clip.

We've got the imaginative Director Patrick Jean and the team at One More Production to thank for this highly creative clip.

This is New York city under attack from old-school videogames. Pac-Man, Frogger, Donkey Kong .... they're all here will Tetronimos combine with skyscrapers, destroying the buildings four floors at at time.

Quite simply ... sit back and enjoy.

Rossi Main

Moto Gp Maestro

"An artist, a gent and the man to beat again in 2010..."

Motorbike racing is dangerous. Fact.  So unsurprisingly no bike racer ever mounts up and takes on the risk of the race track without that all-out-need-to-win burning at their very core. One rider in particular embodies this winning mentality. Alllied to his god given talent, tremendous work ethic and seasoned stamina, his drive to win makes Valentino Rossi something very special indeed.

What makes Rossi even more so is that he is a gentleman in the truest sense taking his victories and defeats with a grace that is an example to us all. The thing is though 'this man don't get beat very often.'  Obscenely late on the brakes, ridiculous speed through the turns, he displays an artistry in the lines he takes and the way he takes them that is pure No Can't Do.

Check out the astonishing drift control below and look out for the man they call 'The Doctor' this weekend, taking on the formidable challenge of Ducati's Casy Stoner, as the season kicks off in Qatar.

Vent MAIN

A Forgotten Art?

"... explored with a level of controversial humour..."

Jeff Dunham is the only person ever to win the "Ventriloquist of the Year" Award twice and he has drawn praise the world over for his comic technique and timing.

However, some have accused Dunham's characters of being racist caricatures, sexist, and homophobic and on occasions he has fallen foul of the Adveristing Standards Authorities. To which Dunham responds "I've skewered whites, blacks, Hispanics, Christians, Jews, Muslims, gays, straights, rednecks, addicts, the elderly, and my wife. As a standup comic, it is my job to make the majority of people laugh, and I believe that comedy is the last true form of free speech."

It has been said that Dunham's act is not funny on its own merits, and that his material gets a greater reaction because of the puppet characters that it would otherwise not garner by itself. I leave it to you to decide....

Introducing Achmed, the dead terrorist.....
