BMX Rot MAIN

Dutch Downhill

"Rotterdam BMXers rippin' it at sunset."

From a country famous for its cheese, windmills, wooden shoes and laissez-faire attitude to life ... we now have, thanks to someone's wayward imagination and 2 very big sets of cojones, this...  pure NO CAN'T (... maybe even 'no shouldn't') DO.

ALICE MAIN

Imagination Defined?

"There is a place like no place on earth..."

"....some say to survive it, you need to be as mad as a hatter - which luckily, I am,"  So a familiar face proclaims to us all...

Johnny Depp's acting eccentricity was made for this role.  Tim Burton's unparalelled creativity was made for this film.  The imagination of Lewis Carroll (aka Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) made for them both.

Throw in Alice, a giant eyed cat, an army of playing cards, an oddly shaped head on the shoulders of Helena Bonham Carter's tyrannical Red Queen and a host of other crazy characters and the fantastical world of Wonderland comes alive.

"Literary nonense" was the term given by critics to the book on its release - you have to wonder what they would have made of Mr Burton back in 1865?

Can't wait for the release on 5th March 2010.  Enjoy the trailer.

BRIT MAIN

Happy To Remember

"What I love is the way it explores the willingness to get out of where you are, that you can make it, no matter what."

Brittany Murphy reveals her own take on "no can't do" when discussing her most acclaimed role opposite rapper Eminem in his biopic 8 Mile.

Acting talent, ever popular costar, and undoubted screen sex symbol ... the film world is a poorer place today for the loss of Brittany Murphy at the shocking age of only 32.  Although in recent years her on-screen roles had declined, ironically for one so beautiful, her voicing of characters namely in King of the Hill and the animated movie Happy Feet, brought with it some outstanding contributions.  A singinging voice that would stand out in any company best remembered through the clip below.  Gloria, Brittany, you will be missed.

RAGE CC

The Rage

"The X Factor artists themselves tell us how it is ... kind of."

The race for the Xmas No1 slot is really heating up with Rage Against The Machine (as fueled by the anti X-Factor brigade) currently on pole!  And in this head to head there are clearly some great opportunities for a bit of creative fun.  Check this for a taste of the wierd and wonderful (well certainly the wierd...) from one highly motivated soul. The SUBO cameo is exquisite although the ubiquitous adolescent tashes are a little unnerving!

RYAN MAIN

A Worthy Winner

"More than than many a Man U fan picked up the phone last night...."

Ryan Giggs is the UK's Sports Personailty of the Year 2009 (as voted for by the UK public). This a man renowned for his creativity, guile and scorching pace on that Manchester left wing (and more recently through the middle) ... and a man with the stamina and determination to go more than the distance.  Over 21 years at the biggest club in the world!  And throughout this time he has shown true humility without compromising his appetite for the game and the victory.  Neither Welsh nor a reds fan, my hat off to Mr Giggs.

Mind Where You Walk

"Artists that make a walk down the street that bit more interesting."

They say that 2010 will be the year of 3D.  There are however those that have long since been at the forefront of this creative revolution (creative skills we recognised and showcased in in our first SUSO film.)  Using a projection called anamorphosis to create the illusion of three dimensions when viewed from the correct angle, here is some of the genius of 4 of the best 3D street artists around.

Steel Springs

"Trampoline training like you have never seen it before."

We have a bounce pad in the garden at home ... I figure I could use the neighbours fence and the hedge as a platform... maybe I'll ask Oli Lemieux here to pop round and give me a few one on ones ...

Make Mine A V-neck

"One big old yarn..."

It's cold today here at the SUSO studio.  Very cold. What I wouldn't give for a a warm jumper.  Or maybe a warm mattress to snuggle up on in the corner (with the PS3!).

So how difficult would it be to knit one?  That, they tell me, depends on exactly how many strands I would want to use.

Rachel John, knitter extreme, recently broke a world record by knitting with a 1000 strands ... simultaneously! Rachel tells us "It is a challenge for all of us to take the waste products that our society produces and to put it to good use. This video, employing yarn deemed previously as waste for shredding, was made in order to stimulate that process."

And so it does.

Down With The Puddycat

"The very idea of a remix was made for this..."

Peter Kay's fine work recently for Children In Need got us thinking as to just who or what owns the title of coolest, most iconic children's TV character.  The list of candidates is extensive...

In putting together our arguments amidst heated (occasionally strongly worded) studio discussion we came across this creative gem .... (be sure to give it plenty of volume.)

Ooooo .... Bright Light.

"Follow the yellow brick road ... or maybe just the cool green light?"

This is NO CAN'T DO as witnessed by SUSO competition entrant James.  Here you have a bunch of mates making a party out of an idea to redirect a laser across town.  Rockin out to that massive Groove Armada sound and captured by that talented crew over at Future Shorts.

Highly creative and with the determined follow through.  We love it.  Keep em coming!
